Your first tournament is closer than you think — most weekly events cost about $10 and require zero experience. Here’s exactly how it works.
Formats
Draw Your Partner: everyone throws their name in, partners are drawn at random, and handicapping evens the field. You don’t need a partner, a rating, or a resume — just show up. This is the format at the weekly nights on our calendar.
Bring Your Partner and open doubles/singles events are the next step — you pick your partner and play your bracket. Bigger events split divisions by skill (beginner, amateur, pro) so you always have a real shot.
Weekly nights typically run $5–$15 entry with cash payouts to the top finishers. Bigger weekend events have larger entries and prize pools — and often side events worth entering just for the games.
Game day
Arrive 30–60 minutes early, pay your entry, get your name in the draw, and get games on the free-play tables.
Most nights are double-elimination: lose once and you drop to the back side of the bracket, still alive. Matches are usually best of three games to 5.
Ask “ready?” before serving, call your timeouts, don’t spin or jar, and shake hands after. Foosball crowds are famously welcoming to new players — you’ll have advice and practice partners by the end of night one.
